By the end of the module, my goal is for you to be able to distinguish between the most common types of pediatric burns; recognize characteristics which aid in determining the etiology, including non-accidental, accidental and burns caused from neglect; identify the indications for further workup; as well as understanding management decisions in pediatric burns. Note that the term child maltreatment is synonymous with abuse and neglect, and furthermore, physical abuse, non-accidental trauma. and inflicted injury are synonymous terms that I use throughout the module.
